Privacy: How Your Text Stays Yours

100% client-side processing

Every calculation in QuickWord Counter — word count, character count, sentence and paragraph counts, reading time, keyword density, readability scores — runs entirely inside your browser using JavaScript. When you type or paste text, it is processed on your device and nowhere else. There is no backend that receives your text, no database that stores it, and no server that reads it. You can verify this yourself: open your browser’s developer tools, switch to the Network tab, and type into the editor. You will see no network requests carrying your text.

What happens to your text

• It is held in your browser’s memory only for as long as you have the page open.
• If you have auto-save enabled, a copy is written to your browser’s local localStorage so your draft survives a refresh.
• Clearing your text or clearing your browser storage removes it permanently.
• No text is ever transmitted to any server, ever. This is a design guarantee, not a setting.

Why this matters

Many online tools send your text to a server for processing. That means your content — whether it is a confidential business document, a legal draft, medical notes, a school essay, or a private letter — is transmitted over the internet and stored on a server you do not control. You have no way to verify how long it is kept, who can access it, or whether it is used to train models. For sensitive material, that risk is unacceptable. Because QuickWord Counter processes everything locally, you can paste any text with the same confidence you would have writing in a notebook.

Auto-save and localStorage

To make the tool pleasant to use, QuickWord Counter saves your current text to your browser’s local storage so it is still there after a refresh or accidental close. This data lives only on your device — it never syncs to any server. If you share a computer or want to clear it, clicking the clear button (or clearing your browser data) removes the saved text immediately. You can turn auto-save off by clearing the text and clearing your browser storage for this site.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

QuickWord Counter’s core counting tools do not require cookies to function. The text you type is never sent to any analytics or advertising system — it never leaves your browser, so no cookie or tracker can ever access it. QuickWord Counter’s core counting tools do not require an account. You can count words, check readability, analyze keyword density, and use every feature without logging in or providing any personal information. Some optional features may use an account in the future, but the core tool will always work without one.

Your browser, your data

Because everything runs in your browser, you are in full control. Private browsing or incognito mode disables localStorage, so nothing is saved. Clearing your browser data removes any saved text. Closing the tab releases the text from memory. At no point does your text exist anywhere outside the device you are using right now. That is our commitment to you, and it is baked into the architecture of the tool itself.
